The renowned international hotel group, Lopesan, known for its impressive portfolio of over 17,000 hotel rooms across Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean, has unveiled its plan to develop a lavish 1,000-room resort in Jamaica.

The announcement has sent waves of excitement through the tourism industry, as Lopesan Group’s expansion into the Caribbean market is expected to bring a significant economic boost to the region. 

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett lauded the group’s commitment to investing in the Caribbean, highlighting its potential to transform the local economy.

Driving economic prosperity

Minister Bartlett underscored the substantial impact of this development, as it is set to create over 2,500 direct and indirect job opportunities. 

He noted that these opportunities will not only benefit the local workforce but also extend to farmers, manufacturers, small businesses, and various other stakeholders in the region.

This groundbreaking news comes at an opportune moment for the Caribbean’s tourism sector.

 With the official reopening of the recently renovated Royalton White Sands resort in Trelawny just around the corner, the industry is abuzz with anticipation.

The tourism sector is also gearing up for the openings of two major resorts before summer 2024- the first phase is 1,000 rooms for the new Princess Resort in Hanover, and the 753-room new RIU Palace Aquarelle resort in Trelawny.
