In a thrilling playoff rematch, the Milwaukee Bucks, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, secured a 122-114 victory over the Miami Heat on Monday.

The game took an intriguing turn as the Bucks built a commanding 25-point lead, only to see the Heat's reserves mount a late comeback.

Antetokounmpo, who finished with 33 points, emphasized the importance of closing out games: "Once you’re up 20, you’ve got to put them away. We weren’t able to do that tonight. Hopefully we can learn from this."

Outscored the Bucks 41-25 in 4th quarter

Despite Miami's determined effort in the fourth quarter, where they outscored the Bucks 41-25, the lead held firm for Milwaukee. A jumper by Duncan Robinson cut the lead to 115-109 with 1:22 left, but a critical three-point play by Antetokounmpo secured the victory.

Damian Lillard contributed 25 points for the Bucks, while Bobby Portis had 16. On the Heat's side, Tyler Herro was the standout performer with 35 points, even in the absence of two-time All-Star center Bam Adebayo, who was sidelined due to a bruised hip.

This game held special significance due to the postseason and offseason connections between the teams. The Heat had surprised the top-seeded Bucks in last season’s playoffs, leading to significant changes in Milwaukee, including the hiring of Coach Adrian Griffin. Additionally, the Bucks acquired Damian Lillard in the offseason, adding intrigue to the matchup.

Heat's resilience

The Bucks took control in the second quarter, setting the stage for a potential blowout. Miami's late surge, with Herro as the lone starter on the floor, showcased the Heat's resilience.

The Bucks, well aware of the Heat's propensity for late comebacks, emphasized the importance of sealing the victory when given the opportunity.

Up next, the Miami Heat will host the Brooklyn Nets, while the Milwaukee Bucks will face the Toronto Raptors.
