"Despite the disappointment in the 100m and 800m, our campaign in Paris continues with admirable courage and commitment being expressed by our athletes on the track and field," the Samuda stated. He highlighted the significant effort and dedication that athletes invest in their training, noting, "Months, years of hard work and sacrifice come dramatically together in seconds in the hundred meters and a minute plus in 800 meters with really no room for errors."

He emphasized the challenging nature of these events and the high standards athletes hold themselves to, which garners respect and admiration from fans and fellow competitors alike. "This simply reinforces why our athletes continue to earn our admiration and respect," he said.

Disappointment but never defeat


Addressing the emotions that come with competition outcomes, Samuda added: "Achievements bring smiles and personal validation and targets not met may bring disappointment but never defeat."

He underscored the resilience and perseverance that characterize Jamaican athletes, saying, "This is the resilience of which we are made and the guts that we must have. Disappointed but never defeated."
