The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has issued a response following a wide-ranging interview with player Leon Bailey on the 'Let's Be Honest' podcast, where Bailey made several accusations regarding his treatment by the federation.

In a released statement, the JFF expressed concern about the comments made by Bailey, stating that some of his assertions were not entirely accurate and aimed to provide clarification.

During the interview, Leon Bailey raised concerns about various issues, including the timing of his payments from the JFF and his travel arrangements, alleging that he often had to book his own flights and received last-minute flight confirmations, resulting in economy class travel with multiple stops.

‘Inaccurate and contradictory’

However, the JFF countered these claims, stating that Bailey's assertions were "inaccurate and contradictory." The federation highlighted specific instances of Bailey's travel bookings, demonstrating that tickets were arranged well in advance and included business class seating for several flights.

Furthermore, the JFF emphasized its policy of booking players on premium economy, similar to practices in other sporting organizations, to minimize costs. They noted that players, including Bailey, could request upgrades to business class, which would be accommodated based on availability or deducted from funds owed to them.

Addressing Bailey's assertion of not receiving payments from the JFF, the federation clarified that outstanding funds for the national team from 2022 were being disbursed and would be completed by the second quarter of 2024. They affirmed their consistent provision of per diem and coverage of all camp and game-related expenses, refuting Bailey's claim of non-payment as misleading.

Treating all players equally

Regarding Bailey's request for a private room during international duties, the JFF reiterated their commitment to treating all players equally and emphasized that team arrangements were under the purview of the coaching staff.

In conclusion, the JFF expressed disappointment in addressing these issues publicly, stating their belief in resolving differences internally rather than through media channels.
