Jewel Andrew's unbeaten half-century propels West Indies U19 to victory over Scotland

Jewel Andrew continued his exceptional form with a polished unbeaten half-century, leading West Indies to a comfortable five-wicket win over Scotland in the ICC Under-19 World Cup on Wednesday.
The 17-year-old, who had made headlines with a brilliant century despite a losing effort against South Africa last week, struck an impressive 64 not out from 60 deliveries. His performance guided the Caribbean side to chase down a target of 206 with almost 15 overs to spare at Senwes Park.
Andrew came to the crease with West Indies at a precarious 90 for four in the 14th over and played a pivotal role in an unbroken sixth-wicket partnership of 95 runs with Nathan Edward (27 not out), steering West Indies to victory.
Crucial four-wicket haul
Fast bowler Isai Thorne had set up West Indies' triumph with a crucial four-wicket haul, which helped limit Scotland to 205 for nine in their allotted 50 overs. Scotland's opening batsman, Jamie Dunk, top-scored with 57 from 87 deliveries, while Adi Hegde contributed 32, and Alec Price added 31. However, Scotland's innings faltered after a promising start, losing seven wickets for just 60 runs in the latter part of their innings.
With this victory, West Indies secured their first points of the ICC Under-19 World Cup and currently occupy the second spot in their group with two points, trailing leaders England. Their next challenge will be against England in their final group game on Friday.
Captain Stephan Pascal expressed his satisfaction with the win, stating, " is, basically, our rock at the moment because the top order isn't really performing as we should, but I'm confident that we will come good. But for the meantime, I am very happy that Jewel is really contributing and putting us over the line."
West Indies struggled to contain the opening partnership
Choosing to field first, West Indies struggled to contain the opening partnership of Dunk and Hegde, which yielded 89 runs and put Scotland in a strong position. However, Isai Thorne's impressive spell and late wickets helped West Indies regain control of the match.
In their run chase, West Indies faced some early setbacks but were ultimately guided to victory by the excellent batting display of Jewel Andrew.
