Following Jamaica’s remarkable performances in the CONCACAF Nations League Finals in Dallas, where they secured a historic third-place finish, the Reggae Boyz have made significant strides in the latest editions of both the FIFA Rankings and the CONCACAF Rankings Index.
In the CONCACAF Rankings Index, the Reggae Boyz ascended from sixth to fifth position, accruing 92 quality points, the highest among all teams in CONCACAF in the latest index update. This notable progress underscores Jamaica's growing prominence in regional football.
The April 2024 edition of the FIFA World Rankings also reflects Jamaica's advancement, with the team moving up from 57th to 55th place. Furthermore, Jamaica maintains its status as the number one team in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), solidifying its position as a football powerhouse in the region.
Delight at the team's improved rankings
Michael Ricketts, President of the Jamaica Football Federation, expressed his delight at the team's improved rankings, attributing the success to their historic podium finish in the CONCACAF Nations League. Ricketts conveyed his pride in the Reggae Boyz and emphasized the anticipation surrounding the team's upcoming fixtures.
With World Cup Qualifying matches looming, the Reggae Boyz are set to commence their campaign on June 6 with a home fixture against the Dominican Republic, followed by an away encounter against Dominica on June 9. Additionally, the team is gearing up for the 2024 edition of the Copa America, scheduled to take place from June 20 to July 14.
