In a tribute to outstanding contributions to community development both locally and internationally, the fourth staging of the Jamaican Pioneers 2024 celebrations shone a spotlight on two distinguished individuals from the Caribbean nation residing in Atlanta, Georgia.

Attorneys Allan Alberga and Anthony Lee Hing emerged as the 2024 honorees, garnering recognition during a virtual ceremony held on Saturday, March 23.

This year’s event, themed ‘Our Stories, Jamaican Pioneers in Georgia,’ bore the mark of Dr. Elaine Bryan, Jamaica’s Honorary Consul in Atlanta and esteemed Real Estate Broker. Dr. Bryan’s vision and meticulous organization were pivotal in bringing this celebration to fruition.

Minister of State Alando Terrelonge commends awardees

In his address to the honorees and attendees, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Hon. Alando Terrelonge, hailed the resilience and dedication of the Jamaican immigrants turned local luminaries.

Minister Terrelonge extended accolades not only to the honorees but also to Dr. Bryan for her relentless efforts in spotlighting the accomplishments of Jamaicans residing beyond the island’s shores. 

Her unwavering commitment as the Honorary Consul for Jamaica over nearly five years has been instrumental in fostering a sense of unity and pride within the Jamaican community in Atlanta.

Government of Jamaica prioritizes diaspora support

Affirming the importance of the diaspora as both family and strategic partners, Minister Terrelonge reiterated the Government of Jamaica’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with and supporting Jamaicans abroad. 

Their contributions, he emphasized, are integral to the nation's journey toward a prosperous future.

The legacy of excellence continued as fourteen esteemed Jamaicans from Atlanta were recognized under the Jamaica Pioneers in Georgia program. 

Their names stand as a testament to the rich tapestry of talent and dedication within the Jamaican diaspora.
