Jamaican woman sentenced to jail for escaping immigration center in Antigua

A 30-year-old Jamaican woman was handed a seven-month jail sentence by the Magistrate Court for her daring escape from lawful custody in Antigua.
Reports are that Tiffanie Stephanie Howell who had been evading authorities for the past week, surrendered to the Immigration Department on a Sunday, leading to her subsequent sentencing at the All Saints Magistrate Court, presided over by Magistrate Ngaio Emmanuel.
Bathroom breakout: Howell’sescape
It is further reported that on January 20, Howell and her accomplice, 23-year-old Donnalee Samantha Salmon, who is also a Jamaican, executed a daring breakout from the Immigration Department's Detention Centre.
Their method of escape involved breaking a bathroom window.
Guilty Plea in Court
Howell who was charged for escaping lawful custody, appeared in the All Saints Magistrate’s Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to the charge that carries a maximum one-year jail term.
Manhunt for Salmon continues
The authorities remain on high alert in their efforts to locate and apprehend Donnalee Samantha Salmon, who is still at large. She is described as having a dark complexion, standing approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a slender build, and weighing around 125 pounds.
Public cautioned and urged to cooperate
Authorities issue a stern warning to the public, cautioning against providing aid, shelter, or approaching Donnalee Samantha Salmon.
They urge individuals with any information regarding Salmon’s whereabouts to promptly contact the Immigration Enforcement Unit.
