In the lush tapestry of Jamaican culture, where creativity meets entrepreneurial spirit, Partick and Marva Whitter are weaving something beautiful. While the decor and gift-giving industry is often associated with a meticulous woman at the helm, this dynamic couple has challenged the stereotype, crafting memorable experiences for clients for every occasion.

Marva’s affection for flower arrangements and gift-giving was ignited by her husband, whose artistry in crafting stunning flower arrangements and gift baskets captured her heart long before they were married.

The seeds of the couple’s business were sown in the 90s when Marva while working at her previous job, witnessed Patrick’s creativity. She then proposed that they cultivate a business on the side, nourishing it alongside his work at Roses and Gardens Gift Shop.

This gave birth to the business ‘Patmarv Flowers and Décor’, a moniker derived from their first names.

“I felt what really solidified us getting this business started though was our first basket because of the challenge which we encountered when we added a piece that felt missing to the basket and seeing the whole basket come to life. After that struggle and using our intuition to make the basket presentable to our standard, it brought a lot of joy and happiness to us and it hasn’t stopped ever since,” she reminisced.

The couple’s harmonious collaboration transcends traditional roles. While Patrick dives into the creative and physical labor of decor and flowers, Marva orchestrates the finances, purchasing, and order management, sprinkling her wisdom as needed to ensure the utmost quality.

A kaleidoscope of services: Beyond just flowers

PatMarv now blossoms with a vibrant array of services, encompassing gift baskets, floral arrangements, wreaths, and all things floral. Their talents extend to event décor for parties, weddings, and meetings, and they also offer rentals of VIP sofas, bistro tables, Chiavari chairs, napkins, and tablecloths.

“If I was to describe the services we offer, I would consider it a one-stop shop,” Marva boasted with pride.

Whether accommodating last-minute requests or planning and executing same-day events, they prioritize their customers’ needs and comfort, crafting each order with singular care.

“We would also have events, arrangements, or wreaths where planning and execution must be done on the same day. Whilst on a more casual day orders from the customers would allow us to plan beforehand which allows the business to move more smoothly. However, in our business we prioritize our customers’ needs and comfort, making every order feel like they’re the only person ordering,” Marva added.

The heartbeat of the business: Love, family, and dedication

The family remains at the heart of their business, weaving a special bond of joy, light-hearted conversation, and love with their children who actively participate in running the business.

“You can basically say that they’re a part of the business but it never feels like working with them because we develop a special kind of bond as we would run jokes with each other and have light-hearted conversations with each other during the process. I can also tell that it also brings joy to them and they love the business,” Marva added warmly.

Through weddings, special events, and the simple power of sweet words on cards, mugs, or even a bouquet, the Whitters are touching lives, rekindling love, and sparking admiration.

Going forward, the couple aims to grow their business. Though presently family-centric, they aspire to hire staff to enhance the company's overall performance and reach

In a world filled with fleeting moments, Patrick and Marva Whitter expressed that they want to stand as a symbol of what love, creativity, and entrepreneurship can cultivate. Through PatMarv Flowers and Décor, they are not just arranging flowers; they are arranging memories, one beautiful basket at a time.
