The Jamaica Constabulary (JCF) force was plunged into mourning on Wednesday following the sudden death of Police Inspector Franklin Hunter.

Reports are that Hunter, who was assigned to the Mt Salem Police Station, collapsed while he was on leave in the United States.

According to a media release from JCF, Hunter had a medical emergency.

“He collapsed and never recovered," the release said.

The JCF said his "remarkable work in the Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) set a high standard for others to follow, earning him the respect from his fellow colleagues as well as members of the Jamaica Defence Force."

"Inspector Hunter's passing is a profound loss for our organization, the community, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him," it further stated.

Hunter is remembered as a committed member of the organization, who was well-loved and respected by his peers.
