In a development from Sophia, Greater Georgetown, police have detained a taxi driver linked to the tragic demise of Navar George Barton, a singer of Jamaican origin.

The incident, which unfolded last Thursday, resulted in Barton’s untimely death at his residence.

The fatal encounter

Authorities revealed that the grim scene was discovered at Barton’s home where he succumbed to a fatal gunshot to the head.

Investigators recovered two 9mm spent shells and metal fragments at the scene, indicating the severity of the attack.

Details of the incident

The primary suspects in this case include a 37-year-old taxi driver and another unidentified individual.

The investigation gained traction following a detailed account from a 19-year-old woman who was at home at the time of the incident.

She reported that the confrontation began with persistent knocking at the door, leading to a violent altercation over an alleged financial dispute, culminating in two gunshots.

In the immediate aftermath, the wounded Barton was urgently transported to Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was declared deceased.
