Jamaica brings special private screening of “Bob Marley: One Love’ to NYC

In a grand gesture to commemorate the release of Paramount's biographical film, “Bob Marley: One Love,” the Jamaica Tourist Board orchestrated an exclusive event that combined the allure of cinema with the vibrant culture of Jamaica.
Held at the Regal Union Square cinema in New York City, this event marked a significant moment, aligning with both the season of love and reggae month.

The release of “Bob Marley: One Love” brings to the forefront the monumental life and enduring legacy of Bob Marley, a figure synonymous with Jamaican music and culture.
Donovan White, the Director of Tourism at the Jamaica Tourist Board, highlighted the film’s debut as a pivotal moment that showcases Jamaica’s profound cultural influence on the global stage.
This influence extends beyond music to include the nation's athletes, cuisine, and more, cementing Marley’s status as a true Jamaican icon.

Philip Rose, the Acting Deputy Director of Tourism for the Americas at the Jamaica Tourist Board, emphasized the film’s capacity to transport audiences to Jamaica through the powerful narrative of Bob Marley’s life and the infectious rhythms of reggae music.

The event commenced with a reception that offered guests a taste of Jamaica, featuring authentic dishes such as jerk chicken, patties, and rice and peas, catered by Jumeika, a renowned New York City restaurant operated by a Jamaican chef.
The evening was made even more memorable with personal welcomes from Philip Rose, Donovan White, and Karlene Angus-Smith of Sandals, enhancing the communal spirit of the occasion.
The screening concluded with the distribution of gift bags, leaving a lasting impression of Jamaican hospitality on the attendees.
