Andre Perez, the former Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, remains under scrutiny as an investigation into allegations against him is ongoing.

Last month, after allegations surfaced, Perez requested a leave of absence from the Cabinet.

Belize’s Prime Minister John Briceño honored the request, paving the way for a transparent inquiry into the matter.

The government, in its previous communication, indicated that once the investigation concludes, the Attorney General and the Minister of Legal Affairs will apprise the Prime Minister regarding any possible legal infractions.

Scandal surrounding Perez

According to reports, the controversy revolves around a female attorney who has accused Perez of misconduct.

While specifics are not fully disclosed, media outlets highlight the attorney’s detailed and graphic account, spurring demands for a comprehensive criminal probe into Perez’s alleged actions.

In response to media queries, Attorney General Anthony Sylvestre stated that although he cannot offer a current update, he assures the public that the investigation is indeed progressing.

Emphasizing the importance of a prompt resolution, Sylvestre mentioned that the probe's timely conclusion is a priority.

Cabinet’s position on Perez

Meanwhile, the Cabinet has expressed confidence in Perez’s dedication to the Belize Rural South constituents.

Despite the ongoing investigation, they believe in his commitment to serve the community’s interests. As Perez and his family navigate these challenging times, the Cabinet has urged for respect towards their privacy.
