United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says a Jamaican national was among several immigrants apprehended during targeted enforcement operations in the New York City metropolitan area aimed at arresting individuals with criminal convictions and outstanding immigration violations.
ICE identified the Jamaican national as Mosiah Wright, describing him as a previously removed immigrant who had re-entered the United States unlawfully.

According to the agency, Wright was arrested by ICE Fugitive Operations officers during an operation targeting what it described as “known criminal illegal aliens and immigration fugitives.”
ICE said Wright had previously been convicted of murder by the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. The agency also said his criminal history includes convictions or arrests related to carrying a concealed weapon illegally, drug possession, resisting arrest and probation violations.
The agency said nationals of El Salvador, Ecuador and Honduras were also arrested during the operation.
ICE said those apprehended included individuals convicted of crimes such as murder, rape, sexual abuse of a child under the age of 11, forcible touching and sexual contact with a person incapable of consent.
“While sanctuary politicians continue to prioritise criminal illegal aliens over law-abiding New Yorkers, our officers are on the front lines every day keeping our communities safe from murderers, rapists and pedophiles that prey on our most vulnerable citizens,” said Kenneth Genalo, field office director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in New York.
“Protecting New Yorkers from criminal illegal aliens will always be a priority for this office,” he added. “We will never waver in our commitment to arrest criminal illegal aliens and remove them from our country.”
ICE said its Enforcement and Removal Operations division is responsible for identifying, arresting and removing non-citizens who violate U.S. immigration laws and who, according to the agency, pose threats to public safety.
The agency said the operation formed part of its ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and apprehend individuals with serious criminal records in the New York metropolitan area.
