‘I feel like I can keep going’: Wycome’s McCleary relishes continued impact

Wycombe Wanderers forward Garath McCleary remains determined to maintain his impressive form after scoring a brace in his team's recent 3-1 triumph over Carlisle United in the English League One.

At 36 years old, McCleary is defying age expectations and making a significant impact on the pitch, contributing four of his six goals since the beginning of the year. His performances have played a crucial role in Wycombe's ascent to the 11th position in the league standings, with only two games left in the campaign.

"I feel like I can keep going," expressed McCleary, reflecting on his rejuvenated form. He credited Wycombe's manager, Matt Bloomfield, for providing him with the platform to perform and managing his workload effectively throughout the season.

Despite nearing the twilight of his professional career, McCleary's hunger for success remains undiminished. His goals against Carlisle carried special sentimental value, as it marked a nostalgic return to Brunton Park, where he scored his first professional goal for Nottingham Forest 17 years ago.

McCleary's goals on Saturday showcased his versatility and predatory instincts, with a well-taken tap-in in the 15th minute and a powerful header in the 75th minute to secure the victory for Wycombe.

Looking ahead, McCleary emphasized Wycombe's ambition to finish the season strongly, targeting wins in their remaining fixtures against Cambridge and Charlton.
