Broward Sheriff's Office helicopter crashes in Pompano claims 2 lives, injures 4

A devastating accident occurred in Pompano Beach on Monday morning when a Broward Sheriff’s Office helicopter plummeted into a building, resulting in the death of two individuals and injuring four others.

Details of the crash

Based on the initial information shared by the Federal Aviation Administration, the helicopter had three occupants at the time of its catastrophic descent around 7:45 a.m. 

A video footage captured the aircraft emanating smoke before losing control and spiraling to the ground.

Identification and aftermath 

The aircraft was confirmed as a BSO Fire Rescue helicopter by local authorities. 

The National Transportation Safety Board reported that the mishap claimed the life of one passenger aboard the helicopter and an unfortunate bystander on the ground.

Survivors and medical attention

Reports are that as for the survivors, the remaining two passengers from the helicopter, along with two residents who were on the ground during the incident, were promptly transported to Broward Health North. 

All four are reported to be in a "fair" condition.
