According to the Local Content Act, alongside the approved Local Content Master Plans and Annual Plans, there is a mandate that when a Guyanese national possesses the necessary qualifications but lacks experience, they must receive the necessary training.
This directive obliges foreign employers to implement continuous training and capacity development programs.

Ensuring fair opportunities
The Secretariat has outlined specific compliance requirements for foreign companies operating primarily in the energy sector.

Consequences of non-compliance

Companies failing to meet these criteria risk being deemed non-compliant, which would impede their ability to receive the Local Content Certificate of Compliance and other critical operational approvals.
