Guyana President receives generous donation for Palestine Aid

Guyana’s Dr. Irfaan Ali was presented with a cheque valued at GY$110,815,105 today at the Office of the President, where the Muslim community in Guyana rallied together to offer substantial humanitarian support to the people of Palestine.

A collective effort for a noble cause

The funds, a testament to the collective goodwill of both Muslims and non-Muslims, were mobilized following a heartfelt appeal initiated by the organizing committee of the National Ramadan Village.

This call to action resonated deeply during the sacred month of Ramadan, culminating in a resounding response, particularly during a special fundraiser held on the auspicious 27th night, known as Laylatul Qadr.

A symbol of gratitude and solidarity

In a modest yet profoundly symbolic handing-over ceremony, the Head of State expressed sincere appreciation for the overwhelming generosity displayed by the people of Guyana.

Dr. Irfaan Ali conveyed humility in the face of such kindness, remarking on the honor of leading a nation characterized by its innate spirit of altruism and compassion.

Empowering aid: Channeling support to those in need

The substantial contribution will find its way to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA), serving as a vital lifeline for those grappling with the devastating impacts of the ongoing conflict.

A gathering of hearts and minds

Joining government officials at this noteworthy event was Yeşim Oruç, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Guyana, alongside members of the Muslim community.

Their collective presence underscored the significance of cross-cultural collaboration and solidarity in addressing global humanitarian challenges.
