Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, accompanied by a delegation of officials, is slated to visit Carriacou to survey the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl firsthand.

According to an announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Mitchell plans to deliver relief supplies to Carriacou and its sister island, Petite Martinique.

Impact of Hurricane Beryl

Hurricane Beryl, a formidable Category 4 storm, struck Carriacou yesterday, leaving residents displaced and without essential services.

Prime Minister Mitchell emphasized the urgent need for support to aid the affected sister islands.

Citizen-led relief efforts

In response, the Prime Minister’s Office has urged citizens to contribute non-perishable food items, canned goods, sanitary products, bottled water, and diapers for both infants and adults.

Donations can be made at the Grenada Yacht Club from 8 am to 10 am.

Coordination of relief operations

Heading the relief efforts in Carriacou is Sylvan McIntyre, supported by Dr. Terrence Walters, the National Disaster Coordinator, and representatives from the public and private sectors.
