Grenada Tourism Authority focuses on revitalizing tourism on Sister Isles
A prominent delegation from the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) recently visited the sister isles of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The team included key figures such as Tevin Andrews, the Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs; Randall Dolland, Chairman of the GTA; and Petra Roach, the GTA’s CEO.
The objective was to engage with crucial tourism stakeholders to address a range of pressing issues affecting the local tourism industry.
Prioritizing effective marketing strategies for Carriacou
One of the central issues on the agenda was the need to refine marketing strategies for Carriacou.
The delegation emphasized the significance of uniquely branding both Carriacou and Petite Martinique to attract a broader range of tourists.
The Chairman highlighted the need for ongoing collaboration with local stakeholders and authorities to fine-tune the islands’ tourism offerings.

Infrastructure improvements for better accessibility
Minister Andrews acknowledged that various concerns of local stakeholders were in the process of being addressed.
He revealed that plans are underway to reconstruct the Hillsborough jetty with the aim of reestablishing it as a port of entry.
Additional considerations include enhancing travel connectivity to the islands, such as facilitating night landings at Lauriston Airport and increasing the frequency of flights to Carriacou.
A long-term commitment to cultural and heritage preservation
The discussions also ventured into the imperative of preserving the heritage sites and transmitting the cultural legacy of the islands.
