In a post on his Twitter page, Ambassador Wei Hongtian of the Chinese Embassy in Grenada said: “I handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of the RGPF of Grenada Mr. Tafawa Pierre the Great Wall Commemorative Medal issued by the Ministry of Public Security of China, serving as a tribute to his significant contribution in law enforcement cooperation.”

The letter informing the senior officer about the award stated that “as a world-renowned leading official from the law enforcement department, you are among the first recipients of the Great Wall Commemorative Medal”.

Pierre expressed his delight at the honor but for confidential reasons was unable to disclose the special law enforcement cooperation he participated in as part of “protecting the safety of Chinese citizens”.

“It was a regional initiative,” he said
