Government urges Jamaicans to complete preparations for Hurricane Beryl

The Jamaican Government is emphasizing the importance of completing preparations for Hurricane Beryl as early as possible this morning. 

According to Information Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon, the Meteorological Service of Jamaica has confirmed that Beryl remains a significant threat and is approaching the island.

High alert and preparedness measures

Morris Dixon highlighted the government’s serious approach to the impending storm, with disaster preparedness efforts operating at full capacity.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness is actively coordinating with state agencies to ensure comprehensive readiness across the nation. 

Discussions with Members of Parliament are also underway to outline their roles in assisting Jamaicans and managing the response to Beryl.

Morris Dixon indicated that Prime Minister Holness is likely to address the nation later today to provide further guidance and updates.

Call to action

In a media release issued on Tuesday, Morris Dixon urged Jamaicans to finalize their storm preparations promptly this morning. 

Residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas were advised to prioritize safety by evacuating to one of the numerous shelters activated across the island.
