Goolie’s century puts Red Force in control against West Indies Academy

In a commanding display of batting prowess, Jyd Goolie's impressive century propelled the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to assert dominance over the West Indies Academy in their West Indies Championship encounter at Conaree Sports Club, St Kitts.

Goolie's remarkable knock of 113, his second century in First-Class cricket, guided the Red Force to a formidable total of 329 in their first innings, establishing a significant lead of 166 runs over the West Indies Academy. Meanwhile, the Academy struggled to make an impact, ending the second day at 84-3, still trailing by 82 runs.

Resuming his innings on 15, Goolie displayed patience and skill as he anchored the Red Force innings, striking 10 fours and two sixes in his 248-ball innings. His partnership with Amir Jangoo (40) propelled the Red Force past the deficit from the previous day.

Nedd claimed six wickets

However, both batsmen fell victim to Ashmead Nedd's exceptional bowling performance, as Nedd claimed six wickets, including Goolie and Jangoo, along with Tion Webster, Anderson Phillip, Jayden Seales, and Jason Mohammed.

In response, the West Indies Academy's top order once again struggled to make an impact, leaving them facing a daunting task to overturn the deficit and set a competitive total. Rashawn Worrell and Ackeem Aguste were dismissed by Bryan Charles, while Anderson Phillip accounted for Kadeem Alleyne.

With the Red Force firmly in control, the West Indies Academy faces an uphill battle to stage a comeback and challenge their opponents in the remainder of the match.
