Stewart’s Automotive Group has once again stepped up with a remarkable prize, offering the Mercedes Benz SUV (GLB 200) to any golfer who can achieve a hole-in-one. Despite four years of the car being on offer, no participant has yet claimed the coveted prize. If this year’s challenge goes unmet, the car will return to Stewart’s, adding to the anticipation surrounding this particular contest.
Speaking at the event’s launch at the S Hotel in Montego Bay, Trina Delisser, chairperson of CUMI, expressed high hopes for this year’s tournament. “We are thrilled by the continued support from our long-time sponsors and excited to welcome new ones. This tournament is crucial in raising the funds necessary to sustain CUMI’s rehabilitation programs,” Delisser said.
Replacement for the organization’s annual 5K/10K Run Walk
The golf tournament was conceived as a replacement for the organization’s annual 5K/10K Run Walk, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. “The shift from a run/walk event to a golf tournament was a natural fit for Tryall, known for its exceptional golf course. The pandemic made it difficult to continue the run/walk, so we embraced golf, and it has been a successful transition,” Delisser explained.
While the roster of participants remains under wraps, Delisser is confident that top golfers from across the island, especially from Kingston, will be drawn to the event, eager for a chance to win the Mercedes Benz SUV and enjoy the renowned Tryall golf course.
The tournament will follow a two-person team scramble format, with the first tee-off set for 8 a.m. Entry into the tournament is set at US$145 or J$23,000.
