The Florida City Police Department said 54-year-old Rocquel McCray was arrested at approximately 1:58 a.m. after officers located her at a local restaurant.
Police said the threats were initially made on social media and were immediately reported to law enforcement.
During the investigation, officers learned that McCray had traveled from Jacksonville to Miami International Airport on Thursday before using a private transportation service to travel to Florida City.
Authorities said McCray later contacted the Florida City Police Department and made additional threats while speaking with a dispatcher, including threatening to shoot at the police station.
Officers located McCray shortly afterward at a restaurant, where police said she resisted arrest before being taken into custody on multiple felony charges. The department did not specify the charges in its initial news release.
McCray previously worked as a Florida City police officer. Her employment with the department ended in 2019.
A Florida City Police Department spokesperson said Saturday that McCray was hospitalized after complaining of chest pains. She is expected to be booked into jail once she is medically cleared.
