Former Bahamian Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham has been admitted to the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.
Ingraham, who first led the Free National Movement (FNM) to a historic general election victory in 1992 and followed that up with victories in 1997 and 2007, was diagnosed with the virus more than a week ago but was admitted to hospital on Tuesday when his symptoms worsened, said Dr Duane Sands – a former Minister of Health..

Meanwhile, officials within the Health Minister are said to be on alert for new COVID-19 variants, particularly ones originating in the United Kingdom and South Africa.
Earlier this week, Health Minister Renward Wells said the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine should be in the country by the end of this week and health workers could start receiving vaccinations as early as next week.
