The City of Sunrise is partnering with Feeding South Florida to bring free food resources to members of the community.

Beginning the week of May 11, food distribution events will take place on Wednesdays starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Sunrise Tennis Club (9605 W Oakland Park Boulevard). Each Feeding South Florida event provides residents with up to a week’s worth of groceries – typically including dairy, meat and produce items. This free food is distributed by City staff via drive-thru service only.

If you are unable to participate in our event, you'll find a list of other food distribution events (updated weekly) posted here: https://feedingsouthflorida.org/covid19/.

Residents who need assistance are also encouraged to call Sunrise’s Compassionate Call Center to be connected with resources and information. Call (954) 746-3670 on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., or email CompassionOfficer@sunrisefl.gov.

Convenient COVID-19 Testing Options

State, county and local officials are working to increase the availability of COVID-19 tests in Florida.

Beginning Friday, May 8, drive-thru COVID-19 testing will be available by appointment only in the parking lot of the Walmart located at 3306 N University Drive.

This site, operated in partnership with Quest Diagnostics, is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Testing is available for anyone age 18 or older who meets CDC and state and local guidelines – including first responders, health care providers, those with symptoms of COVID-19, and those in high-risk groups without symptoms.

Visit www.MyQuestCOVIDTest.com to see if you are eligible to be tested, and to make an appointment. There is no charge for this service.

In addition, the Walgreens at 6105 W Sunrise Boulevard is conducting testing daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for anyone age 18 and older. Visit https://www.walgreens.com/findcare/covid19/testing to schedule an appointment. There is no charge for this service.

This week, Broward County – in partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Broward, American Medical Response, and Century Ambulance Services – launched a mobile/in-home testing program. This service is available for homebound elderly residents, as well as individuals with disabilities who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and cannot leave their homes to access a drive-thru or walk-up testing site. Residents who believe they are eligible should call the Broward County COVID-19 Call Center at 954-357-9500 for a pre-qualifying assessment. The COVID-19 Call Center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
