The initiative highlights South Florida leaders and organizations for contributions to public service, education, business and community leadership.

Dazza, a Florida International University graduate, was recognized for her work in public service and animal welfare. As assistant director of Broward County Animal Care, she oversees operations involving shelter services, field services and programs supporting animals and pet owners across the county.

“Alyssa has been an effective partner in helping us drive Broward County Animal Care toward the excellence this community deserves,” said Doug Brightwell, director of Animal Care. “Alyssa and our leadership team have worked together to deliver unprecedented life-saving results and success for our region.”

Dazza said the department has focused on improving the shelter experience for both residents and animals in its care.

“Our team has worked very hard over the past two years to produce a high-quality shelter experience for our residents and the animals in our care. We have made tremendous progress toward that goal,” she said.

Dazza is also pursuing a Master of Science in Shelter Medicine at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

“I am looking forward to building on that progress as we work with our community to elevate Broward County Animal Care into a world-class shelter,” she said.

Dazza is among nearly 7,000 Broward County government employees working across 62 agencies under the leadership of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners.

The Florida Panthers’ recognition highlights her work as well as the contributions of public servants across Broward County, which has more than two million residents.
