Fatal stabbing marks tragic start to new year in The Bahamas

The first murder of the year 2024 in The Bahamas occurred in western New Providence. 

The Royal Bahamas Police Force responded to the incident, apprehending a 26-year-old man on January 1, 2024, who stands accused of fatally stabbing a family member.

Family dispute takes a deadly turn

Preliminary reports shed light on the tragic incident that unfolded shortly before 5 am on that fateful morning. 

An altercation erupted between the 26-year-old suspect and his 51-year-old family member within the confines of their own home. 

Reports are that the suspect used a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.

The 51-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.  

The suspect was taken into police custody while at the residence.
