In a significant move, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), headquartered in St. Kitts, has announced the approval of a change to the Eastern Caribbean (EC) currency.

The ECCB’s Monetary Council has given the green light to replace the image of Queen Elizabeth II on their currency with a new emblem.

Embracing the collective identity

ECCB said that the proposed replacement is an emblem designed to represent the flags of ECCB member countries, signifying a more comprehensive reflection of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU).

A central bank for the eastern Caribbean

The ECCB, serving as the central bank for several Caribbean nations, plays a crucial role in the region's financial stability and economic development.

Its jurisdiction includes the islands of Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts-Nevis, Montserrat, and Anguilla.
