Early voting begins Saturday in Broward County

Early voting for Broward County's Aug. 18 primary election begins Saturday, Aug. 8, giving voters nine consecutive days to cast their ballots before Election Day.

Early voting will run through Sunday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at 21 locations across the county. Eligible Broward County voters may vote at any early voting site, regardless of their precinct.

Florida is a closed-primary state, meaning voters will receive the ballot for the political party in which they are registered. However, all registered voters may vote in nonpartisan races and any universal primary contests appearing on their ballot.

Voters must present a current, valid photo ID with a signature to vote. Accessible voting equipment will be available at all early voting sites for voters with disabilities.

Secure ballot intake stations, commonly known as drop boxes, will also be available at all 21 early voting locations during voting hours, as well as at the Broward County Supervisor of Elections' permanent branch offices.

"We encourage voters to make a plan, vote early and bring a friend or family member with them to one of the 21 locations opened throughout the county," Broward County Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott said. "The beauty about Early Voting is that it gives voters the flexibility to cast their ballot at a time and place that is most convenient for them."

Voters can review their sample ballot, verify their voter registration information and find a complete list of early voting locations at BrowardVotes.gov.

The deadline to return a vote-by-mail ballot is 7 p.m. on Aug. 6. Election Day is Tuesday, Aug. 18, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
