CPL and UWI relaunch sports marketing internship for 2026 season
The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL), in partnership with the University of the West Indies (UWI) Faculty of Sport, has announced the return of its internship program for the 2026 tournament, marking the initiative’s 10th year.
Running from July to September 2026, the program will select 21 students who will have the option to complete a fully accredited three-credit Sports Marketing course delivered online by UWI lecturers. The academic component will be paired with hands-on experience working directly with the CPL marketing team during the tournament.
Interns will gain practical exposure across matches hosted in seven countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago. Jamaica’s inclusion as a host venue is expected to expand the program’s reach and operational experience for participants.
Since its launch, the initiative has helped develop dozens of young Caribbean professionals, with many alumni going on to secure roles within CPL and the wider sports and entertainment industries.
CPL CEO Pete Russell said the program continues to serve as a key talent pipeline for the region’s sports sector, noting that it provides students with real-world experience in a fast-paced international sporting environment.
He added that the 2026 edition is expected to be the most ambitious yet, given the expanded tournament footprint.
