Condor Airlines to resume weekly service between Antigua and Barbuda and Germany
Condor Airlines, a carrier connecting Europe and the Caribbean, is gearing up to reintroduce its weekly service between Antigua and Barbuda and Germany later this year.
The announcement comes as a significant boost for the tourism sector of Antigua and Barbuda, promising enhanced accessibility for European travelers.
ABTA announcement sparks optimism
The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) unveiled this development on Tuesday, following a fruitful discussion with Condor during the International Tourism Market (ITB) held in Berlin.
Colin C James, the Chief Executive Officer of ABTA, expressed optimism regarding the return of Condor flights, considering it a positive indicator for the region's tourism landscape.
Strategic significance of Condor flights
James highlighted the strategic importance of the German-speaking market, ranking as the second most crucial European market for Antigua and Barbuda.
The direct flight service is perceived as a pivotal gateway, facilitating access from central Europe to the scenic Caribbean destination.
Collaborative efforts for success
Acknowledging the collaborative efforts, James credited various partners, including Elite Island Resorts, Royalton, and Caribbean Beach Cottage, representing a consortium of 10 properties in Antigua.
Additionally, support from the sailing fraternity, particularly KH+P and Sailing Classics, is expected to contribute to the success of the initiative.
James emphasized the collective endeavor and strong partnerships as key drivers for boosting visitor numbers.
Flight details and schedule
Commencing from November 5, 2024, and concluding on May 6, 2025, the service will operate between Frankfurt, Germany, and Antigua’s V.C Bird International Airport. Condor plans to deploy its latest Airbus A330-900 aircraft, boasting a capacity of 310 passengers, for this route.
The airline aims to conduct 27 rotations to Antigua, with a stopover in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Marketing endeavors and booking betails
ABTA revealed comprehensive sales and marketing initiatives to enhance awareness of the flight service.
Booking for the anticipated service is scheduled to commence on March 7, providing travelers an early opportunity to secure their seats for an enriching Caribbean experience.
