Cocaine shipment headed for Antigua intercepted in Trinidad
Trinidad and Tobago authorities recently put a halt to a significant drug shipment destined for Antigua and Barbuda, seizing cocaine valued at over US$73,000.
Concealed amongst legitimate cargo
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) reported that it uncovered a drug trafficking network based in the Northern Division.
Reports are that the network discreetly smuggled narcotics, cleverly hidden amidst legitimate cargo, employing local courier services to facilitate deliveries to both regional and international partners.
Package disguised as car parts
According to reports, on October 11, officers zeroed in on a package, supposedly containing car parts headed for Antigua.
A scan of the consignment exposed 363 grams of cocaine.
Efforts toward a drug-free region
Following the successful interception, Commissioner of Police, Erla Christopher, emphasized the significance of such operations.
Christopher said that each successful drug seizure not only reflects the relentless dedication of the TTPS but also symbolizes a collective triumph for the community.
The Commissioner further noted the importance of fostering partnerships, both domestically and abroad, to progressively break down drug trafficking operations and subsequently decrease related criminal activities.
