City of Sunrise Offers Assistance Program for Mortgage, Rent, and/or Utility Payments

The City of Sunrise recognizes the financial hardships that residents have faced as a result of COVID-19 and has created the COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Program in support.

This program helps eligible City of Sunrise residents with mortgage, rent and/or utility payments and is funded by the State Housing Initiatives Program (SHIP).

Applicants must have experienced a loss of income due to COVID-19, and meet other eligibility requirements. 50 applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis beginning Monday, May 18, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. Early applications will not be processed.

COVID-19 Emergency Assistance is available as follows:


Temporary Rent and/or Utility Payments

The City will assist Sunrise residents with up to 3 months of rent and/or utility payments. Rental assistance will be provided up to $5,000. In addition, qualified applicants will be granted up to $1,000 of assistance for utility payments (water, gas and/or electric).

The City will assist Sunrise homeowners with up to 3 months of mortgage and/or utility payments. Mortgage assistance will be provided up to $5,000. In addition, qualified applicants will be granted up to $1,000 of assistance for utility payments (water, gas and/or electric).
