The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) was established by an Act of Parliament in November 2006 as a statutory body mandated to oversee the ownership, control, management, and development of the nation’s airports.
Its primary functions include efficiently managing and administering airport operations, constructing and upgrading aviation facilities, operating airport services in accordance with relevant legislation, and setting and collecting authorized fees. The ABAA currently oversees VC Bird International Airport and Codrington Airport in Barbuda. Before its formation, these airports were managed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation through an Aerodrome Superintendent. Between 2006 and 2009, a full transition integrated all airport departments under the ABAA.
