CDB backs intra-regional travel recovery

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is actively backing efforts to rejuvenate intra-regional travel following the collapse of LIAT 1974. 

Despite not commenting on ongoing talks with the Antigua and Barbuda government regarding LIAT 2020, CDB’s acting President, Isaac Solomon, emphasized air transport’s pivotal role in regional development during a recent Barbados press conference.

Progress towards solutions

Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, announced promising developments, confirming the conclusion of negotiations between CDB and the government regarding aircraft sales. 

Browne also revealed a unanimous agreement among LIAT’s shareholder governments to divest their shares to LIAT 2020.

Solomon reiterated CDB’s commitment to aiding the resolution of air transportation challenges in the Caribbean.
