CARICOM Secretariat celebrates 51 years of diplomatic relations with Cuba

The CARICOM Secretariat reaffirmed Cuba’s enduring role as a vital development partner, marking the 51st anniversary of the fraternal friendship between the regional integration movement and the Caribbean nation.

Observing CARICOM Cuba Day

In a statement, the Secretariat embraced CARICOM Cuba Day, an annual observance that was inaugurated back in 2002.

This day serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring bond between CARICOM member states and Cuba, highlighting the invaluable contributions made by the latter to the development of the Caribbean community.

A crucial pillar of support

The Secretariat underscored Cuba’s unwavering commitment to bolstering the CARICOM Community’s human resource capacity.

Over the past half-century, Cuba has played a pivotal role in achieving this goal, primarily through extensive scholarship programs spanning various fields of study. These programs have encompassed critical domains such as medicine and agriculture.
