CARICOM Secretariat announces breach in online applications

In a startling development on Monday, the Guyana-based Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat revealed that some of its “online applications” have been breached.

In a statement, they announced, “In these circumstances, our website and other applications are offline until further notice” adding “We regret any inconvenience caused”.

CARICOM Secretariat  sources provide limited information

According to reports, CARICOM Secretariat sources have remained tight-lipped regarding the possibility of a cyberattack or hacking, opting instead for a brief statement.

The statement assured that telephone and email services “remain unaffected.”

No timeline for recovery

Despite the acknowledgment of the breach, the CARICOM Secretariat has not provided any indication of when the online applications and website services will be back in operation.
