Heads of Government highlighted security restoration, stability and electoral advancement as Haiti’s immediate priorities, stressing that the country’s security situation has implications for the wider Caribbean region.

CARICOM also renewed its support for strengthening Haiti’s national security institutions and called for the full deployment and renewal of the mandate of the Gang Suppression Force, noting that Haiti’s security is closely linked to the peace and stability of the Caribbean.

The regional body said it will continue working with Haitian authorities, the United Nations, the Organization of American States and other international partners to help address the crisis and create the conditions needed for security, credible elections and long-term stability.
