The Washington-based financial institution said that it is inviting young people between the ages 20to 32 to enters its Annual Meetings Youth Fellowship Contest that is open to bloggers, vloggers, journalists, communications experts, youth professionals and students.
The IMF said that the COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed 925,000 people and infected 29 million others worldwide since it was first detected in CIGNA last December, is likely to increase poverty and inequality, expose weaknesses in health care systems, weaken job prospects and opportunities that young people desperately need.
“The 2020 IMF Youth Fellowship Contest provides an opportunity for young participants to become part of the global efforts to build forward better and join the IMF at the forefront of the response to the crisis,” the IMF said, adding that they will participate in virtual training led by IMF experts and media professionals “to boost their skills as multimedia storytellers in the current economic environment focusing on building a better future for youth”.
