The airline said the audited financial statements for 2020 are targeted for completion by the end of October 2026, while audits for the 2021 through 2025 financial years are on schedule for completion.
The update was provided at Caribbean Airlines’ ninth annual general meeting on Sept. 22 at the airline’s head office in Piarco, Trinidad.
Caribbean Airlines Chairman Reyna Kowlessar said bringing the airline’s financial statements up to date is an important part of efforts to strengthen the company and support its long-term sustainability.
“Bringing the airline’s audited financial statements up to date, following an inherited nine-year backlog, is an essential part of our focus on rebuilding, growing and positioning Caribbean Airlines for lasting success,” Kowlessar said.
She thanked employees for their work and continued dedication as the airline addresses the backlog.
The airline said the audit work is part of a broader programme aimed at improving its financial viability and operational performance.
Caribbean Airlines is undertaking the work amid continued pressure on the global aviation industry, including elevated fuel costs, which represent one of the largest expenses for airlines.
The carrier said it is responding by increasing financial and operational discipline while maintaining essential connectivity.
As part of those efforts, Caribbean Airlines introduced a route rationalisation programme in 2025 to assess its network and ensure that routes remain aligned with market demand and commercial conditions.
The airline is also implementing a fleet optimisation strategy that includes the sale of two ATR aircraft. One of the aircraft has already been delivered to its new owner.
Caribbean Airlines said the measures are being supported by policy reforms and strengthened financial compliance and oversight.
The airline said the initiatives are intended to improve organisational discipline and ensure its resources are deployed responsibly.
