Canadian PM to return to Jamaica for second consecutive holiday getaway

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has once again chosen Jamaica as his destination for the post-Christmas vacation, marking the second consecutive year for this tropical getaway.

Reports are that the trip is scheduled to take place from December 26, 2023, to January 4, 2024.

Accompanying the Prime Minister on this vacation will be members of his immediate family.

Despite the recent separation of Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, she will also be traveling with him during this holiday season.

Duties continue while on vacation

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Canada has assured the public that Justin Trudeau will not be fully disconnected from his official responsibilities during his vacation.

He will maintain contact with his office and continue to receive briefings on important issues, ensuring that government matters are not neglected.

Jamaica’s appeal for winter tourists

Trudeau’s choice of Jamaica as his holiday destination underscores the island’s enduring appeal as a premier destination for the 2023-2024 winter tourist season.

The country’s Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, had recently proclaimed that this season would go down in history as the best ever for Jamaica.

Record-breaking numbers

Minister Bartlett proudly announced that Jamaica had secured an impressive 1.05 million airline seats through nearly 6,000 flights originating from the United States for the winter season.

This represents a 13 per cent increase compared to the previous 2022-2023 winter season, emphasizing the island's status as a top winter getaway.
