Acting Governor Rosalie Adams ordered that effective December 1, the 11pm to 6am daily curfew continue until December 14. No indication has been made as to what will happen afterwards; heading towards Christmas Day.
The continuation order has come at a time when there is still much public debate as to whether it should remain or be lifted.
But according to Premier Dr. Orlando Smith’s latest known public statement, the curfew will remain until more power is restored to the territory.
While speaking on radio two weeks ago, Dr Smith said - “Without power, we don’t have the safety that we were speaking about earlier, and hence the curfew. And that is why we need to maintain that curfew at least until we have a satisfactory amount of lights back in the territory.”
