Bruce Golding to head Commonwealth expert team for Bangladesh general elections

Jamaica’s former Prime Minister Bruce Golding is set to lead a ten-person Commonwealth Expert Team tasked with overseeing the upcoming Bangladesh general elections, slated for January 7 next year. 

Appointment by Commonwealth Secretary-General

The appointment of this expert team was officially announced by Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland in response to an invitation extended by the Bangladesh Election Commission. 

Deployment across the nation

Commencing on January 6, the ten-person expert team will embark on their mission, dispersing into small groups throughout Bangladesh. 

On the day of the elections,  the team will observe the opening, voting, closing, counting and results management processes.
