BROWARD COUNTY, Florida - The Broward Sheriff's Office and the 17th Judicial Circuit is temporarily stopping all eviction activities due to the current coronavirus pandemic.
This is until further notice, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
In a statement, the Chief Judge, Jack Tuter said:
"I have partially suspended normal court operations as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. I have previously entered Administrative Order 2019-85-Gen, Suspending the Execution of Writs of Possession During Emergencies... Pursuant to that Administrative Order, the Sherrif shall suspend posting and execution of any writ of possession for residential premises that have not executed prior to the declaration of emergency and partial suspension of court operations. This mandate not only applies to the Sheriff, but to all law enforcement agencies."
Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony accepted and agreed with the notice, saying “In coordination with Chief Judge Jack Tuter and the 17th Judicial Circuit, it was agreed that deputies stop serving eviction notices for as long as is needed."
