Sgt. Thomas Honan, a detective with the department’s special investigations unit, said Poole failed to account for or provide documentation for 10 outstanding cash deposits totaling $4,491.80.
The money was supposed to be transferred to Brink’s for transportation and deposit into the school’s JPMorgan Chase account, according to the report.
Investigators said Poole did not provide an explanation for the missing money. Honan alleged that she failed to turn over the funds for deposit.
The investigation included Ryan Smith, director of the BCPS Business Support Center in Sunrise, and McArthur High School Principal Mark Howard as witnesses, according to the arrest report.
School district audit reports from 2017 and 2022 previously listed Cunningham-Poole as a bookkeeper at Whiddon-Rogers Education Center in Fort Lauderdale.
Poole was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on Wednesday. Her bond was set at $2,500.
Aaron Savitski, a spokesman for the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, said the charge carries an automatic bond and Poole was therefore not required to appear in magistrate court. A court appearance will be scheduled before the judge assigned to the case.
Broward County Circuit Judge Francis Viamontes has been assigned to preside over the case.
