Broward County's nightly COVID-19 curfew expired on Monday but all other county restrictions are still in effect.
Broward Mayor Dale Holness opted not to extend the curfew as the state reported its lowest daily total of COVID-19 cases, in over a month, on Monday.
“We have to find a balance with restricting people’s rights to movement and controlling this virus", Holness said. Last week, the county’s administrator, Bertha Henry, extended the curfew — which was instituted on July 17 — until Monday.
No other restrictions, including an order that restaurants must stop serving at 10 p.m., have been lifted. Vacation rentals that are allowed to operate should still provide the email and telephone number of their on-site management or security personnel.
Outdoor, open-air events are not permissible unless a reopening or operating plan is submitted to Reopening@Broward.org and approved by the County Administrator.
“We have to maintain the vigilance and follow the guidelines of the CDC,” Holness said. “We are seeing some signs of slight decrease, but we can’t let down our guard.”
While the facial covering requirements remain in full effect, residents are not required to wear them in their home, nor are they liable for facial covering violations of their guests.
