Brian Brown called up for Jamaica’s friendly soccer match with the US

In-form Jamaican striker Brian Brown has been called up for the Reggae Boyz’ friendly international against United States in Washington DC on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old has been one of the leading scorers in the United Soccer League, already netting eight goals this season for Reno 1868 FC to lead the franchise.

Following the fixture against the US, Brown will remain with the Reggae Boyz while they prepare for the CONCACAF Gold Cup which gets underway June 15.

“I’m very happy and excited to be representing my country as always,” Brown said.

Brown was an unused substitute in Jamaica’s 2-0 defeat to face El Salvador during the CONCACAF Nations League last March but started in the 1-0 defeat to Costa Rica in an international friend later that month.

The former Harbour View forward had an outstanding season for Reno last year, bagging 17 goals to be ranked in the top five of the USL.

Jamaica have been installed in Group C of the Gold Cup and open their campaign with a historic home fixture at the National Stadium in Kingston against Honduras on June 17.

They then travel to Houston to take on El Salvador four days later before rounding out their preliminary campaign against Curacao in Los Angeles on June 25.
