At the end of the second day's play on Friday, West Indies were 13 for one in their second innings, with an overall lead of 35 runs.

West Indies trail 1-0 in the two-Test series, having lost the first Test to Australia in Adelaide by 10 wickets.

Roach expressed confidence in West Indies' performance and their desire to win their first Test against Australia in nearly three decades.

He dismissed makeshift opener Steve Smith for six, and Alzarri Joseph got Marnus Labuschagne for three, reducing Australia to 11 for two. Roach later claimed the wickets of Cameron Green and Travis Head in quick succession before dinner.

Resistance from Australia


Australia's Usman Khawaja put up a strong fight with a top score of 75. Wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey and captain Pat Cummins also contributed significantly.

During the final half-hour before tea, Shamar Joseph dismissed Alex Carey, and Alzarri Joseph got Mitchell Starc, leaving Australia struggling at 161 for seven.

Khawaja and captain Pat Cummins put on 81 runs for the eighth wicket, reducing the deficit to under 100 runs.
